Children who prefer to bring their own packed lunch should bring lunch in a named, sealed container. Children should also bring a drink to school, also in a named, appropriate container, not a can or glass bottle. The school requests that drinks not be fizzy.
Water will be available to drink at all times within the classroom and milk is available as an entitlement for Reception aged children. The school promotes children having a healthy snack of fruit or vegetables throughout the morning session.
Use the eatwell plate (link below) to get the balance of your diet right. It shows you how much to eat from each food group.
There have been a few questions raised over the certification of the Halal meat supplied to Caterlink, the catering company who prepare our school lunches.
Following discussions with Caterlink, I can advise that they follow very strict guidelines when choosing their suppliers, ensuring that they hold the correct certificates for the produce they supply. Bodies, such as The Halal Monitoring Board and the Institute of Islamic Jurisprudence, appropriately certify all of Caterlink’s Halal meat suppliers; copies of the certificates are available from the school office and can be viewed below.
