What a great start to the new year! We had an exciting term learning all about the Angles, Saxons and Jutes.
In English we were shocked to find the Village Green destroyed by what we deduced to be a monster from somewhere aquatic! We discovered that Grendel, from the story Beowulf, had visited our classroom. After reading the story we wrote our own quest for Beowulf and a fact file for our own mythical creature.
In maths we have been learning how to multiply two digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using the column method. We have grasped the concept quickly but Mrs Ramlall and Miss Mitchard think we will be even quicker by continuing to learn our times tables.
In science we have enjoyed learning about our bodies. We learnt the names for different bones which make up our skeleton and worked as a group to create a life size skeleton. We also explored our muscles and carried out an experiment to see which muscles we use to complete different activities.
We finished our term with a brilliant Anglo Saxon experience day where we were immersed in the life of a Saxon. We found the different weapons fascinating and were shocked to discover that the Anglo Saxons ate seagulls!
