This term year 5 have been doing some fabulous learning and would love to share it with you.
In Maths this term we have been learning place value with six digit numbers and have been using the column method to help us add and exchange numbers. We have also been learning Roman numerals to figure out missing numbers in equations. Along with Roman numerals, we did some rounding with big numbers.
In English this term we have been writing some amazing diary entries pretending to be soldiers in WW1. We have also been writing newspaper reports on the Christmas Truce. Nearer to the end of the term, we published our fantastic work which is on the display in the 5/6 corridor.
Our topic this term has been WW1. This was to mark 100 years since WW1 ended. A few weeks ago, we were treated to a theatre production about the war.
In PE this term we really enjoyed playing a few games of dodge ball along with some team games such as stuck in the mud and we did a few exercises like the bean game.
This term in art, we have been using the watercolours to make some sunset silhouettes of soldiers, poppies and planes.
Our Science lessons this term have been super exciting .We have been looking at materials and have been testing some to see how fragile or strong some of them were.
