Wow, term 4 has flown by so quickly! Our topic was ‘ Far Far Away ‘ in which we learnt all about castles and traditional tales.
In English we looked at two different traditional tales. First we looked at Jack and the Beanstalk; the children learnt to tell the story with their own actions, wrote wishes for what they would want to find at the top of the beanstalk and had a go at writing the story. Then we moved on to The Three Little Pigs; again the children learnt to tell the story, produced wanted posters and had a go at writing the story. Fabulous work Reception!
In Maths the children have been working with numbers to 20. They have been recognising and ordering the numbers. They have even been trying to add and takeaway using objects to 20!
We celebrated our topic by having a Knights and Princesses day with our friends from Year 2. The children made crafts to do with traditional tales and even got to spend some time at Knight School! We then finished the day by having a banquet in the hall – we even had a chocolate fountain! The children came in some fantastic costumes and all had a great day.
As part of Understanding the World the children had a go at growing their own beans. They enjoyed watching the changes that happened to the beans and seeing them develop roots and shoots.
The children enjoyed writing their own stories in their very own story writing books and we have seen some great stories acted out in the puppet show! Later in the term we celebrated Easter by making Easter cards and chocolate nest cakes.
Reception worked so hard this term that we finished the term with a party day – the children loved the party food and the disco!
