Another Term has gone by so quickly, we have had a great time learning about under the sea in our “Commotion in the Ocean” topic.
In Literacy we focussed on two fictional stories – The Rainbow Fish and Tiddler. The children were fantastic at learning and re-enacting each of the stories. The children wrote about their favourite characters and came up with their own Tiddler tales!
In maths we have been learning about doubling and halving, the children amazed us with how quickly they understood each concept and could apply it. We have continued to practise our number formation and it is looking very neat.
The children have been very engaged in finding out about creatures that live under the sea. They have used books independently to find out about different sea creatures and enjoyed watching Youtube videos of the creatures as a class. The children have been to explain what it is that interests them about the creatures.
A big highlight of this term was our trip to Bristol Aquarium! Both classes had a great time spotting all of their favourite sea creatures in the tank and we were even lucky enough to get to feed some of the fish and sting rays! The children had been looking forward to seeing Luna the octopus and when we were there we were lucky enough to see her moving around her tank and sticking the glass window. The children were incredibly well behaved and the trip was enjoyed by everyone. Some super independent writing about the trip followed when we returned back to school.
A few more highlights from this term:
- Everybody can week
- Paralympian visit
- Miss Stringer sharing her baby news
- Electing eco councillors
- Our new mud kitchen arriving
- Exercising in the park on Sunny days
I can’t believe our final term is approaching, we wish all the children and their families a wonderful half term! In our final term we will be learning about animals in our topic
