This term our topic has been Turrets and Tiaras! The children have very much enjoyed exploring traditional tales from around the world.
In English, the children became authors! We reinvented Jack and the Beanstalk and Hansel and Gretel. The children are becoming masters at editing their writing.
Teachers were impressed with how they are identifying spellings errors and ensuring character descriptions are detailed. Mrs Ramlall and I were delighted to read so many awesome stories, and we were so surprised with some of the twists and turns within the story lines!
In Maths, we have been developing our multiplication and division skills. The children are getting very good at their 2, 5 and 10 times tables!
In History, we have been learning castles from the past. The children enjoyed learning about how people kept castles safe from attacks. We learnt about the role of Knights. The children loved researching their family coat of arms, and made some wonderful 3D shields.
Not forgetting our experience day that we shared with Reception. The children enjoyed various activities themed around the topic such as:
- Medieval dancing
- Shield making
- Knight School
- Designing and making suitable housing for 3 little pigs
- Preparing a meal suitable for a King & Queen
We would like to take the opportunity to thank our Year 2 Parents/Carers for their continued support. The children have completed some super home learning projects such as:
- Castle models
- Presentations from day trips to real castles
All of which has engaged the children massively and had such amazing impact on their learning!
Looking forward to Term 5.
Our next topic is…. How much is too much?
See you soon!
