The children have really enjoyed our sporting theme this term finding out about their own sporting heroes and other Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
Alongside this in our science lessons we have been looking at how our bodies work including hearts, muscles and skeletons; and the different food groups and what makes a healthy diet.
In English the children researched and produced a non-chronological report on the sports person that inspires them. They then created a portrait using pastels and learning different techniques for this. We also wrote acrostic poems for our favourite sports and rhyming poems to describe the atmosphere at a sporting event. To finish the term we wrote stories based on books by Mo Farah, Dinosaur Dash, and Michael Morpurgo’s The Fox and the Ghost King.
In Maths we learnt about fractions of shapes and numbers and the fact that a fraction has a numerator and a denominator. We also looked at measurement and started to look at properties of shapes.
We finished the term with a variety of activities in Everyone Can week and met the British Champion High Jumper Robert Mitchell.
