Year 1's science learning was brought to life this week when we experienced a very exciting visit from Jungle Johnathon's Roadshow!
Jungle Jonathon’s Roadshow offers a unique experience where children can get up close and personal with some exotic animals. This was an unmissable opportunity to further explore Year 1’s science topic of Animals (including humans) and we were excited to have them visiting our school. During their time with us the children got to see a variety of animals including millipedes, geckos, tarantulas, and even a snake!
Jungle Jonathon taught them all about the structure of these animals. Year 1 were particularly fascinated by all of the millipede's legs as well as the tarantula’s exoskeleton. We also learnt about the diet of each animal and linked this to our learning of the key vocabulary 'carnivores, herbivores and omnivores'.
During their visits, Jungle Jonathon went into great detail when explaining each animal’s unique biology, which really helped our pupils take in all of this new information. The children did so well and were absolute superstars throughout the whole event.
We are always happy to supply our pupils with unforgettable experiences. It was a pleasure watching the children get involved and enjoying their close encounters with the creepy kind!
